"Fascinated and Frightened: How are communications professionals viewing the AI opportunity ahead?"

Your AI readiness playbook

Fascination. Fear. Ask communicators how they feel about AI and those two words – both of them, simultaneously – will most often be the answer.

We know this thanks to a recent report co-produced by WE Communications and the USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations – Fascinated and Frightened. How are communications professionals viewing the AI opportunity ahead?

This report answers that question and so many others by offering an in-depth look at just how your peers in PR currently view and use AI. In doing so, it provides an invaluable guide to help you take that next key step, regardless of where you are on your own AI journey.

Based on a survey of nearly 400 comms leaders across the U.S., this report has produced myriad eye-opening data points and related takeaways of which you simply must be aware.

For example: Only 16% say they are “extremely knowledgeable” about applications of AI in comms. Meanwhile, only 23% say their organization is currently making changes to the way it works due to new AI tools.

Those numbers should be higher. And they can get higher. This report can play a major role in that. And it will do so by helping you accomplish four key things that are essential to AI adoption and acumen:

  • Develop a query-based mindset
  • Start experimentation with a specific set of actions
  • Build your AI fluency
  • Unlock new avenues of creativity that AI can foster

PR’s adoption of AI is no longer a question of “if.” It’s all about “when” and “how.” And many of the answers you need right now are in this playbook.
